Santa and More

My Rotary Club meets at 7:00 Thursday mornings. Today was our Santa Claus Breakfast with the members' children and grandchildren. I was assigned to set up and be greeter today, so Kevin and I had to be there by 6:30. The plan was for Kevin to be at my side greeting everyone as they entered. I also had to set up the equipment for the Power Point slideshow I was presenting -- using a Jingle Bell medley from a new Michael W. Smith Christmas CD and visual of selected Christmas cards illustrating each line of the song. Additionally, the ensemble, of which I was a part, was practicing for their role. Meanwhile, Kevin asked the member coordinating the event if he could help her. He placed the poinsettias on many of the tables! Another member took over the greeter position, as I was still involved when people began arriving, and Kevin latched onto the teens who were helping with nametags. His charming personality won many friends. Several commented on how cute he is.

Santa delivered gifts to all the boys and girls (snuck under the tree by the parents/grandparents).

Kevin's remote control car was a hit!

We had a hair appointment following Rotary.

Then went to visit Grandpa in his office. While Grandma did some housekeeping, Kevin had fun drawing on Grandpa's wipe-off board.

The picture is of Kevin, Grandpa, Grandma, (animals from L) James, Spunky, Fuzzie, Guinness, and Jack at the bottom.

Grandma had an appointment in Hamilton this afternoon. The route home took us past Dundurn Castle, a local tourist attraction. I asked Kevin if he was interested. He was! So we turned around and went back.

There were several families with children visiting today. They were all extremely attentive and asked many questions -- Kevin asking the most!

He wondered how they put the Christmas decorations all the way to the ceiling. The tour guide told us about the life of women in the 1850s -- that playing the piano or harp was cultured activities which girls pursued. He raised his hand to say that his Mommy played the harp, but she is in heaven now.

Kevin is enjoying playing the piano -- both picking out the tunes to Christmas carols from a learning-to-play piano book and composing his own songs as well as lyrics! I videoed a segment of his composing attempts and uploaded it to YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQylxxmt_uE
