New Friends

After rehearsing our walks and schedule yesterday, it went smoothly today. We made it to the bus stop in time. Kevin was excited to be riding a big, yellow school bus for the first time! While waiting for the bus, we met a mother with a daughter, who is in Kevin's group, from south of Raleigh.

Since I will be late for class every day, I registered as an auditor which means I cannot participate. Then I enjoyed the morning's lecture on The East Meets West (Asians moving into the Middle East) given by Geoffrey Kemp from the Nixon Center, and picked up Kevin at noon. We made it to his afternoon session, and I came back for him at 4:00. I found him having great fun with his new friends comparing Silly Bands.

Kevin wanted to walk home along the lakeshore where he met up with a new friend, Tor, who is here for two weeks from Sweden! His mother is originally from Jamestown (a Swede city at the south of Lake Chautauqua where Karin was born. Karin's name is spelled with an "i," because that is the Swedish spelling!) The boys played together for at least an hour.

He and his mother got in their boat to go home on the opposite shore. Kevin wanted to get in the boat, and they promised a ride later this week.
